Collectible porcelain. "Landscape with eyes"

Ülo Sooster died in 1970 at the age of 46. The life and creative path of his friends, artists of the Moscow underground, continued. They moved to Europe and America, became famous, and explored different artistic directions.

n the early 1990s, many of them turned to porcelain. Artists transferred the images of their paintings onto porcelain plates, which were then hand-painted by porcelain masters. A new artistic object emerged — collectible plates, unique in concept and execution.

Today this tradition continues. Fifty-five years after Ülo Sooster’s death, a limited-edition series of his collectible plates has been released.

For this project, artist Tenno Sooster, head of the Sooster Foundation, selected a fragment from one of his father’s most iconic paintings, “Landscape with Eyes” (1968).

The series, created in collaboration with the Hopperdietzel Porzellan workshop (Meissen, Germany), embodies Ülo Sooster’s legacy in a new material.
