Hommage

When does an homage painting appear? When one artist is overwhelmed with impressions and feelings from the work of another artist. They feel compelled to create a response piece—engaging in a dialogue in the language of painting, expressing their thoughts and emotions, and showing gratitude for the inspiration received. Hommage is a French term that translates to appreciation, a tribute.
