\u00dclo Sooster and Mikhail Grobman. They were contemporaries and representatives of \u201cunofficial, underground art.\u201d They met regularly, spoke at length, and closely followed each other\u2019s work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Their works\u2014carried out of the USSR in suitcases\u2014found their way onto exhibitions across both Eastern and Western Europe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 1970, \u00dclo Sooster died at the age of 46.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 1971, at 32, Mikhail Grobman emigrated to Israel with his wife and children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mikhail Grobman passed away on 23 November 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Artist. Poet. Curator. Collector. Chronicler of the artistic life of his circle. Philosopher and theorist of art.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Together with Irina Vrubel-Golubkina, their home was always open and full of guests\u2014both in Moscow and in Israel. It was they who convinced Lidia, \u00dclo Sooster\u2019s widow, to undertake a book of memoirs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mikhail Grobman\u2019s legacy is wide-ranging, substantial, and exceptionally valuable\u2014and research on it will undoubtedly continue. Here we cite Dr. Lelya Kantor-Kazovskaya from her book \u201cGrobman. Grobman,\u201d a passage that pertains to both Mikhail Grobman and \u00dclo Sooster:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
